Giving Hope: We all have people we keep close to our hearts and in our prayers. We have a book for an outreach opportunity to let them know you are thinking about them and God cares for them. The book is titled ‘The Power of Hope’ and comes with a ‘Jesus is the sweetest gift’ bookmark and a candy-cane pen. Please see the ladies in the foyer after church to get some books for giving.
Oshkosh Pathfinder Camporee: We need to know who is planning to go to Oshkosh next year and we need a minimum deposit of $20 by December 16. The balance is due by the end of May. The total cost of the trip is $340 per person. Please bring deposits to the church office and if you have any questions, please contact Pastor Thordarson.
Andrews Academy invites you to the Feast of Lights: Andrews Academy will be presenting the 46th annual Feast of Lights program on Friday, December 14, at 7:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend this spectacular night of music, scripture, and drama honoring the King of Kings. It is an evening of lights, bells, instruments, choral singing, congregational singing, shepherds, a Nativity scene, and the retelling of a glorious Christmas story. Chorale and Orchestra will end the program with four choruses from Handel’s Messiah including the Hallelujah chorus at the end. The church sidewalks will be arrayed in Christmas lighting. The program will speak to your hearts of His wondrous love. All are invited to attend this free program held at Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University. You are also invited to an evening of popular Christmas music on Saturday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University. Join us as we bring in the holidays with a variety of well-known Christmas songs including a grand finale played by the combined musical groups.
Blue Christmas: The Holiday season is hard for those whose hearts are hurting. You are not alone. Blue Christmas is a contemplative service for those who are carrying pain or loss during this season of celebration. Tuesday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel followed by refreshments.
Women’s Ministry Book Club: 1st SDA Book Club South Bend – I’ve heard from a couple of you that you have the book, so I would like to begin setting dates for reading. Could we meet in the FB chat room for our group, 1st SDA Book Club South Bend, on January 8 to discuss the first 4 chapters of the book? Let me know through the FB club messaging if this will work. Looking forward to seeing how this works! –Winona Hays, Women’s Ministry
Visitor’s Meal: Each Sabbath, we provide a meal for our visitors and out-of-town guests, and we welcome our members from afar, those living alone, and our youth. We are happy to see more members wanting to stay and we are asking our members who wish to stay for the visitor’s meal to bring food so there is plenty of food for everyone. You can also check with the church office to see what can be contributed to the menu that has been planned for the week.
Church Directory: Thank you for stopping to get your photos taken. We have put away our photo station, but would still like to get everyone’s photo. You can submit your photos to the church e-mail: email@example.com.
Snow Removal: The church is looking for someone to clear snow and ice from the church and school sidewalks during the winter. The church will provide the equipment and materials for the job. This is a paid position. If you are interested, please contact the church office.
SBJA Openings: Are you looking for a great Christian education for your child? Consider South Bend Jr. Academy. There are still some openings in grades K-8. Contact the school office at (574) 287-3713 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
